Yamaha XJR 1300
Yamaha's XJR1300 is a classic naked musclebike design, made special by some high-spec chassis components. The XJR engine evolved from the previous XJR1200's motor in 1998, although the air-cooled 16-valve in-line four traces its history back much further - first seen in 1200cc form in the 1986 FJ1200, which in turn was developed from the FJ1100 of 1984. The strong, torquey motor is installed in a straightforward steel-tube chassis with conventional front forks and a twin-shock rear swingarm. The rear shocks are ?hlins, which Yamaha owns, and their trademark yellow springs give a dash of colour to the XJR's back end, as do the blue-centred Rl-type front brake calipers, which give strong, progressive stopping power. |
