Presented at the Bologna Motor Show in November 1988 and sold in February 1989, the NSR-R ', the faired version of bare F to which it joins in the list. Although R may seem a reversal of strategy than the bare F filed until one year before, it should be noted that, aided by air motion with quiet performance and the technical content of a sports car and a cheaper price than the competition, the F experienced a tremendous commercial success. The reason for the R and 'therefore be sought in the will of men to provide sixteen Honda Sports Motorbike racing fairing and image more of F, but at the same time witness of those technical qualities and dynamics that made the NSR sport bike course, but more suitable for normal use compared to some models ready track "competition.

The NSR-R followed that updates the model F, though curiously not ever officially adopting the name as RII sister naked IFI. In 1991 and 1992, were also prepared two special series in a limited and largely changed in the chassis and engine to participate in the Sport Production championship.

The NSR-R remained in production until the early months of 1993, when it was replaced by NSR-R 22 JC or the keel of Raiden 125.

Price in 1989: 5,180,000 Lira

Changes: Consistent with the presentation of IFI, RL adopt the following amendments:
New six-spoke wheels Grimeca
New front fender more 'subtle
Engine sweetened in the delivery and revised carburetion

The bike soon

The only tangible difference between the F and R, 'of course the fairing and the atypical arrangement of the ignition switch and warning service of the instrumentation - which remains the same - arranged on a "bridge" that crosses the headstock. Note the practical adoption of a seat cover to match the passenger completes the picture more racing offered by R. Everything else remains unchanged from the F.

Cycling

There were no changes with respect to F.

Engine

There were no changes from F except for the adoption of a final report slightly longer to encourage the best qualities of aerodynamic R. According to the findings of the time, the NSR detects a maximum power to the wheel to 26.79cv 9750giri against 27.68cv to 10250giri of F. Since the engines are identical, the slight worsening and 'probably due to different tuning of the engines of the specimens tested. In tests on shooting 400 yards from 50km / h, R recorded a time of 19.281 and an output speed of 100km / h against 20.639 sec 91.550 km / h F. Contrary to expectations and the logical view of the hull and the adoption of a final report elongated, the maximum speed recorded down to 156.2 km / h instead of 160.3km / h recorded by F. In essence, the data collected seem to confirm the differences rather illogical and probably solely attributable to the bike seems to have been proven to be a softening of the performance advantage of the recovery, precisely where R represents a better time than the F and despite the relationship Final stretch! However, and 'once again more likely that the F tested in 1988 had been the subject of a special preparation for printing, to approach the fateful (and never achieved) 31cv originally declared the house Atessa.
