Essentially the body, motor and suspension of the 150 GS was scrapped and Piaggio went about creating the evolution of the Vespa 125/150 into the totally new 160 GS. Some of the major changes were; Entirely new and slimmer frame Physically larger Front mudguard much larger and cowls redesigned Left side cowl now detachable and glovebox replaced with space for a sparewheel Steering lock Shape and size of seats changes New engine and upgraded crankshaft and bearings were enlarged Motor integrated with the swing-arm Dell'Orto SI 27/23 carburettor with integrated choke New flywheel and magneto with an output of 35 W Suspension and brake drums changed.
