Citycom is a top high-wheel cruiser that conquers all road conditions in and out the city. It is a dream model that matches your convenient and fashionable style.
The luggage box is big enough to fit in 2 helmets. The 16 inch tire offers the best enjoyment and stability when shuttling around the city. The sporty dual-headlight is not only eye-catching in design but also provides better visibility for safety concerns.
Review
On the basis of 300 cm3 marketed in 2008, Sym offers the following year Citycom in 125 cm3, a rigorous scooter complementing one of the largest ranges in the segment 125. However it should not be positioned as a single large wheels, there is already Symphony and Sym HD. Indeed, there arises a true sporting GT-like model, like the Yamaha X-Max!
Halfway between the Piaggio X7 and X-Max Yamaha, the Citycom 125 is aesthetic, if not innovative and fits well into the current trend of the competition. The face of the scooter displays two large integrated head lights. The handlebar and fairing is topped with a generous windscreen, a wide seat and large passenger handles. The set is as modern as it is sensual, but more importantly, this scooter is a true GT. Sym made great strides towards the standards that we have become accustomed to from the Japanese and Europeans. The scooter is large without being bulky, provides sufficient protection to address highways and equipment worthy of a GT. Certainly, one miss the warning lights and the ignition light control is manual. This is the only pitfall, the rest is not open to criticism. The dashboard, mixing analog and digital display, provides all necessary information. Speedometer, tachometer, total and partial mileage, fuel gauge with LED segments separate for indicating reserve, clock ... Below, the seat is enough space to accommodate a full-face helmet.. There is also a circuit breaker, apparently favored by Taiwanese designers as an antitheft device. Note also the passenger footrests retractable, and the glove box, although not very large is equipped with a 12-volt outlet.
One of the benefits of the scooter is the big wheels - the Citycom is easy to handle. The driving position is comfortable and relaxing and more than satisfactory. Suspension is good and handles unevenness of the surface well. Moreover, the protection provided by the body, the windshield and small handguards is worthy of a GT scooter. Braking is powerful and easy to modulate on the front, a little too biting at the back, but on the whole is reassuring in an emergency (tested and approved!). The large diameter wheels ensure stability, without compromising the freshness of Citycom, which particularly at ease in city congestion. When you leave the city to highways and dotted curves, the behavior of the scooter remains healthy, even if you feel a slight unsteadiness in fast curves. We got better directional stability by adjusting the shock absorbers firmer. The only complaint we have is average feeling provided by the Maxxis tires fitted as original equipment. Not that the grip is bad, but it's hard to know how far you can go
With regard to the engine of the Citycom, there are no surprises. This is the engine is already propelling the GTS - a single-cylinder 4-valve cylinder head, still fed by a carburetor. A strong and valiant setup, but we will enjoy the arrival of electronic fuel injection. Performance is modest compared to the best current scooters, with a top speed of 106 km/h chrono (120 km/h displayed ). This is not bad, just average. This is also the case for acceleration, with a 0 - 100 meters in 9.7 seconds, revealing some softness at low speeds. In fact, the best of this engine is obtained midrange, where it offers sufficient power. We measured an average consumption of 4.5 l/100 allowing you to travel more than 200 km on a full tank.
