It was the first series model designed by the new NSU chief designer Walter William Moore. Moore was recruited in 1929 from Norton in England where he had designed the upright-shaft engines that were employed so successfully in motorsports. Typical features are the standing 500cc OHC 1-cylinder engine with upright shaft, 3-speed gearbox with pedal gearshift, dual exhaust (cf. single-port system on racing SS models) and closed frame. |
