KTM unveiled its RC250 and Duke 250 at the 43rd Tokyo Motorcycle Show.
Here are the engine specifications of both RC250 and Duke 250 that share a common engine:
Engine: 250cc single cylinder, liquid-cooledHorsepower: 31.3Torque: 24 NmGearbox: 6-speedThe engine for both RC250 and Duke 250 has been derived from its older sibling Duke and RC390 motorcycle. KTM engineers have detuned their 373.2cc powerhouse to perhaps provide a more rideable sportbike on the streets of Japan.
As a result, we expect taller gearing, better or same efficiency and top-level performance. KTM is famous for making insane power to weight ratio machines and it has done so right this time too. The Duke weighs 139 kg and RC 250 weighs 147 kg, which is 3-4 kg heavier than their 200cc predecessors when you compare their dry weights. The engine weighs 37.2 kg and is the lightest in its class. The motor is a 4-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled unit with Nikasil coating on the cylinders
The trellis chassis and WP suspension system continue to be the norm making the newest KTM duo very attractive. These machines with their basic hardware have impressed everyone. The motorcycles would be manufactured at Bajaj’s plant in Pune alongside its siblings and come fitted with ABS (as seen in the pictures).
