Ducati Monster 620ie
Like its larger 900cc sibling, the Monster 600 found itself lacking in terms of power against new late-1990s competition. Suzuki's SV650 and Cagiva's Raptor 650 are both much more powerful than the elderly 583cc Ducati design, and the mini-Monster needed an update. The 620ie was DucaB's response. A larger stroke crankshaft increased capacity by 35cc, and a new fuel-injection system replaced the 600's carburettors, improving power delivery and cutting emissions. Ducati also upgraded he rest of the bike with twin front brake discs and improved dash and electrics. An 'S' version of the 620ie is also available, with aluminium swingarm, small headlight fairing, ride-height-adjustable rear shock and carbon-fibre body panels. Throughout the 1990’s, the Ducati Monster dominated the motorcycling scene, propelling it into the new millennium as the universally acknowledged benchmark in its class. Styling and performance make for a unique personality, one that is mean yet captivating and calls out to the hearts of a diverse audience, from novice riders to female motorcyclists to those who just love aggressive sport riding in a comfortable, upright riding position.
